Designing tells us nothing

The designer runs in your browser. The design you make is kept in your browser’s own storage, along with the region you chose and any colour schemes you saved, and none of that reaches us until you order. There are no analytics and no advertising scripts on this site.

Three things the designer does do reach other services, because they have to:

• Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap, so their servers see your IP address and which tiles you asked for, as any map site’s do.
• Place search sends what you type to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service. “Use my location” asks your browser for your position only when you press it, and the position stays in your browser.
• Follow the roads and Draw a route send the points you chose to the OSRM routing service to find the roads between them.

What we collect when you order

• Your name, email address and, for a print, the delivery address, collected by Stripe at checkout and passed to us with the order.
• The design itself, and the print file made from it, so the print can be made and so you can come back to it.
• For a print bought on Etsy: the receipt, the buyer name, email and delivery address Etsy gives us, so we can email you the design link and post the print.

Card details go to Stripe and never to us.

Why we are allowed to

Making and posting what you bought, and emailing you about it, is performing the contract with you. Keeping order records afterwards is a legal obligation for tax. Nothing here relies on consent except your location, which you give by pressing the button.

Who else sees it

• Stripe takes payment and holds your card details under its own privacy policy.
• Prodigi, the print lab, receives your name, delivery address, email address and the print file, in the region the print is made in.
• Etsy, for an Etsy sale, is told when the print has been posted and its tracking number.
• Resend sends our emails to you.
• Cloudflare stores the print files and the design links; Supabase holds the order records; Netlify serves this site and the order system.

We do not sell or share your details for anyone else’s marketing.

How long we keep it

• The link to your design works for four months, and the design stays with the order. The print file made from it is kept for thirty days after it was sent, in case the print has to be made again, then deleted automatically.
• Order records, with your name and address, are kept for six years as tax law requires.
• What is in your browser stays until you clear it.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted where the law allows, or object to how it is used. Email hello@madebymonolith.com. If you are not satisfied with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Cookies

We set none. The cookies page says what the site keeps in your browser instead.
